Flugwelt Altenburg aviation museum

The Flugwelt Altenburg-Nobitz aviation museum is located at Altenburg Airport, close to the runway. The Flugwelt Altenburg-Nobitz association was founded in October 2004 and went on to open the museum. Since then, the collection and the information accompanying it have grown. Accounts from people who witnessed the airport’s history have helped explain different periods in its development.

Exhibits and history

Alongside the airport’s history, the exhibition includes instruments, aircraft parts, detailed models and complete aircraft, including a MiG-21 SPS and a Breguet BR1150 Atlantic. The former naval aircraft is displayed outdoors and is open to visitors.

After your visit, the museum’s volunteers offer coffee and cake, or a light snack on request, in a small café with a historic setting.
