Leipzig-Altenburg Airport is at the heart of the Central German Metropolitan Region, with around 6 million people living and working within a 100 km radius. A network of 11 universities and 33 higher education institutions supports a well-qualified workforce. More than 100 research institutions provide a foundation for innovative and efficient production.
The A4, A9, A38 and A72 motorways connect the airport to the wider road network. The Leipzig–Altenburg–Zwickau railway line has been part of the Central German S-Bahn network since 2013.
The airport’s location and permitted noise limits make it suitable for aviation-related businesses and industries with higher noise emissions. It is also well suited to company flight operations and night flights. Altenburg-Nobitz has no night-flight curfew!
